About this site
๐ Hi, Iโm Thomas โ a Korean-American founder, born and raised in NYC, shaped on the West Coast, and now building a startup in Seoul.
Founder Seoul is where I write about everything โ but mostly life as a founder in South Korea. The name is a play on words: it's about being a founder in Seoul, and having the founder soul โ the mindset, grit, and obsession it takes to build something from scratch.
Youโll find stories about entrepreneurship in a foreign country, the underrated yet exciting startup scene in Korea, and reflections on my personal journey. My background in competitive tennis and chess has shaped how I think about business, discipline, and staying mentally sharp. Iโm also a massive fan of sports โ NBA, NFL, MLB, and yes, even chess (debatably a sport).
I believe Korea is still under-appreciated as a startup hub, and Iโm here to show why it shouldnโt be. If you're into Seoul, South Korea, startups, or the mindset of building โ this blog is for you.
